Phumzile Sojola

About

Phumzile Sojola, from Gqeberha, South Africa, is delighted to make his debut with the Boston Pops. He was last seen in Boston in a Miriam Makeba tribute performance with Arts Emerson, as well as in the North American tour of Phantom of the Opera (Piangi) at Boston Opera House. Broadway productions include the Tony Award-winning The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess (Peter) as well as the critically acclaimed Cinderella (Lord Pinkleton). Phumzile has also starred in the hit Off-Broadway show Three Mo’ Tenors. His love of performing has led to many other adventures, including Dear World with NYCC Encores!, Master Harold and the Boys (Willie) at Syracuse Stage, Porgy and Bess at the Metropolitan Opera, L'étoile (Hérisson) and Troubled Island (Popo) with New York City Opera, La bohème (Rodolfo) with Missouri Symphony Orchestra, Lost in the Stars (Leader) with Skylark Opera, The Magic Flute (Monostatos) and Carmen (Remendado) at Dayton Opera, Porgy and Bess (Robbins/Crabman) with Opera National de Lyon, and the Edinburgh International Festival. His voice can be heard in the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra’s Treemonisha and with the American Spiritual Ensemble. This summer, Phumzile looks forward to reprising Lord Pinkleton in Cinderella at the Sacramento Music Circus.
