About

Laura Vecchione (alto) is an assistant professor of voice at the Berklee College of Music, where she teaches her jazz and blues ensemble about Ellington's foundational contributions to the Harlem Renaissance, American culture, and civil rights, contextualizing him, in Ken Burns' words, as "America's greatest composer." She has recorded three studio albums of original music in Nashville, TN, and one single with Jon Batiste and his quartet. Vecchione is honored and thrilled to be making her BSO debut singing the sacred music of Duke Ellington with the celestial talents of Renese King and this esteemed ensemble.
