BSO Announces 2024–25 Community Chamber Concerts

The Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is pleased to announce a series of 11 Community Chamber Concerts to take place from October 4, 2024, to April 6, 2025. Established in 1998, this free concert series invites audiences to experience the unique intimacy of chamber music performed by BSO musicians in smaller spaces outside Symphony Hall. Concert venues include community centers, churches, and town halls. Four of the venues will host for the first time: St. John’s Episcopal Church in Jamaica Plain, Arlington Town Hall, First Church in Cambridge, and the Scandinavian Center in Waltham.

The 2024–25 series features BSO players and guest pianists performing works for chamber ensembles of two to eight players. Repertoire ranges from classical favorites such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms to exciting works by living composers Oleg Ponomarev, Gabriela Lena Frank, and John Williams (see below for a complete listing). Community Chamber Concerts are approximately one hour long.

Statement from Chad Smith, BSO President and CEO:

"Since 1998, our Community Chamber Concerts have brought the joy and inspiration of live music directly to the neighborhoods of Greater Boston, ensuring that everyone—regardless of distance or economic barriers—has access to the transformative power of the arts. These concerts are designed to foster a deeper sense of belonging and connection across our city. By gathering neighbors in shared musical experiences, we aim to strengthen the bonds that tie us together, offering moments of beauty and comfort that resonate long after the music has ended. We are deeply grateful to the eight venues that have partnered with us this season, exemplifying the spirit of collaboration and community that lies at the heart of these events."
