ABOUT THE PROGRAM

All that Mahler knew of earth and all he divined of the hereafter inform the heaven-storming and radiant "Resurrection" Symphony. The Philharmonic turns its attention once again to this overpowering work, which it has performed in Boston and New York's Carnegie Hall to ecstatic audiences and critical acclaim. Leading British mezzo-soprano Dame Sarah Connolly praised by Lloyd Schwartz of Musical America as "achingly poignant British contralto Dame Sarah Connolly... is still at the top of her form." returns to the Boston Philharmonic for this performance.

-Benjamin Zander
