Rakitina Earns Rave Reviews in Long-Awaited Debut
Anna Rakitina, who joined the BSO as its Anna E. Finnerty Assistant Conductor in September 2019, made her long-awaited Tanglewood debut in August 2021. The award-winning conductor, who is only the second female assistant conductor in BSO history, led the orchestra in Edward Elgar’s “Enigma Variations”, Langer’s Figaro Gets a Divorce and Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G” with soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Of the performance, The Boston Globe raved, “…if Saturday’s performance was any indication, [Rakitina’s] concerts ought to be high on any music-lover’s agenda.”
