BSO Earns Health and Safety Accreditations for Symphony Hall
In preparation for welcoming concertgoers back to Symphony Hall, the BSO earned two health and safety accreditations in recognition of its extensive work to ensure the safest possible conditions for audiences: the STAR Facility Accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council and the WELL Health-Safety Rating for Facility Operations and Management. The STAR accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities, indicates that the BSO has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention throughout the Hall. Meanwhile, the WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement, and emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment now and into the future. The BSO’s reopening plan for Symphony Hall was developed and adapted through months of work by more than 100 individuals including BSO staff, Board, and musicians, with expert guidance from 9Foundations, Inc. led by Dr. Joseph G. Allen.
