Hollywood Icon Martin Sheen and Legendary Entertainer Steve Martin to Join Garrison Keillor for a LIve Broadcast of "A [Steve Martin]Prairie Home Companion" June 27 at Tanglewood!

Hollywood icon Martin Sheen and legendary entertainer Steve Martin have joined the lineup for Garrison Keillor’s live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion at June 27, 2009 at Tanglewood. Mr. Sheen, who is known for his starring roles in Wall Street, Apocalypse Now as well as TV’s The West Wing, will perform withGarrison Keillor and the rest of the A Prairie Home Companion cast. As part of the broadcast, Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers will perform bluegrass and banjo songs from Martin’s recently released all-music album The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo.

[Martin Sheen]The live broadcast of the season finale of A Prairie Home Companion has become a Tanglewood tradition since it was first broadcast live from the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s summer home in 1998. The A Prairie Home Companion broadcast is sponsored by General Mills, Inc. and the Ford Motor Company.

Buenos Aires songwriter and guitarist Federico Aubele will be the opening act for Diana Krall’s special July 4th concert at Tanglewood. Building on the culture of his native Argentina, Aubele infuses the Latin rhythms with influences from throughout the Americas to create his own unique sound. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Aubele started playing music at 12.  His 2003 debut album Gran Hotel Buenos Aires, was hailed as a stunning debut by the Chicago Times. His 2007 follow up Panamericana was called the “ultimate Latin lounge record of the year” in the NY Post’s Best of 2007 round up.  His newest album, Amatoria, was released on May 19, 2009. 
            Tanglewood’s Fourth of July concert will feature singer and pianist Diana Krall, who is well known for her sophisticated and swinging interpretations of jazz and American Songbook standards.

John Williams returns to lead the Boston Pops Orchestra and special guests in his annual celebration of music from the movies. This year's program is a tribute to the legacy of Warner Bros.
